When Did that Happen? - Linking Events and Relations to Timestamps

چکیده
We present work on linking events and fluents (i.e., relations that hold for certain periods of time) to temporal information in text, which is an important enabler for many applications such as timelines and reasoning. Previous research has mainly focused on temporal links for events, and we extend that work to include fluents as well, presenting a common methodology for linking both events and relations to timestamps within the same sentence. Our approach combines tree kernels with classical feature-based learning to exploit context and achieves competitive F1-scores on event-time linking, and comparable F1scores for fluents. Our best systems achieve F1-scores of 0.76 on events and 0.72 on fluents.

The Prospect of the United States and Saudi Arabia’s Relations In Light of the Khashoggi Murder
A decade after the establishment of the Saudi regime Riyadh and Washington constructed a strategic alliance between themselves in 1945. On the other hand, given the “Pivot to Asia” doctrine adopted by the Obama and Trump Administrations, the decline of Washington's dependence on Saudi oil, as well as some important events such as the murdering of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi by Riyadh offic...
متن کاملMethods for Enhancement of Timestamp Evidence in Digital Investigations
This work explores how the evidential value of digital timestamps can be enhanced by taking a hypothesis based approach to the investigation of digital timestamps. It defines the concepts of clock hypotheses, timestamps and causality in digital systems. These concepts are utilized to develop methods that can be used in an investigation to test a clock hypothesis for consistency with timestamps ...
متن کاملThe Role of Culture in International Relations Theories
The study of culture in international relations theories takes a wide range of complex issues, which without enough perception about these issues, certainly our understanding about the role of culture in international relations theories will be incomplete. Since in real world the study of international affairs is best understood as traditional competition between traditional mainstream theories...
متن کاملEfficient Timestamps for Capturing Causality
Consider an asynchronous system consisting of processes that communicate via message-passing.The processes communicate over a potentially incomplete communication network consisting of reli-able bidirectional communication channels. Thus, not every pair of processes is necessarily able tocommunicate with each other directly. The goal of the algorithms discussed in this paper ...
متن کاملA Limitation of Vector Timestamps for Reconstructing Distributed Computations
Vector timestamps provide a way of recording the causal relationships between events in a distributed computation. We draw attention to a limitation of such timestamps when used to reconstruct computations in which message overtaking occurred.
